Introducing Acorn Lane at Oaks Retirement Village
At Oaks Retirement Village, we believe home is more than a place—it’s a feeling of belonging, dignity, and being truly seen for who you are. That’s why we’re proud to announce that our Memory Care unit is evolving—both in name and in spirit—into Acorn Lane.
We understand that for many families and residents, the word “memory” can sometimes carry a stigma, especially for those living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Our goal with this change is simple:
- Make transitions smoother for residents and families
- Foster dignity by focusing on the person, not just the diagnosis
- Create an environment where every story is honoured and every resident is seen for who they are
Why “Acorn Lane”?
The acorn is a symbol of potential, resilience, and new beginnings. Just like the mighty oak it becomes, our residents have deep roots, rich histories, and life experiences that deserve to be treasured.
While Acorn Lane will continue to specialize in care for those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, it will also remain a warm and supportive home for individuals needing higher levels of daily care.
Our Slogan: Acorn Lane — Where Every Story is Treasured.
The name may be new, but our care, compassion, and commitment remain exactly the same.
Oaks Retirement Village — Honouring life’s journey, one day at a time.
Building genuine friendships with our residents and their families is more important than daily routines. We strive to truly understand who our residents are, so we can adjust our interactions and respond with whatever is needed in the moment. Our staff will partner with the residents and their family members to understand the life story of each resident, celebrating the moments they share together while embracing their life story. This information is used to shape the care plan and allows staff to focus on creating positive “wow moments” throughout the day.
