GENERAL MANAGER

Hunter McCallum

I am a lifelong resident of Wallaceburg and began my career with Oaks Retirement Village in the spring of 2016. I quickly progressed from front-line staff to Business Manager, took a brief hiatus to gain further experience in the retirement home sector, and ultimately returned to Oaks to leverage that experience in the role of General Manager. My passion for elder care was cultivated through my experiences with my grandparents and great-grandmother, and it continues to inspire me to build meaningful connections with our residents, their families, and the community. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, our dog, and cats. I am eager to see what the next chapter holds for Oaks Retirement Village!

I grew up deeply involved in a retirement home environment, with my grandmother and mother working tirelessly at our small 10-bedroom community. As I got older, I became more engaged and eventually took on the role of Assistant Manager at the same retirement home. Six years ago, my family and I moved to St. Clair Township when my husband received a job opportunity here, and we quickly fell in love with the area. I am truly grateful to Oaks Retirement Village for providing me the opportunity to continue developing my skills and further my career in this rewarding field.

CARE SERVICES MANAGER

I have had the privilege of serving as the Care Services Manager at Oaks Retirement Village since its opening in 2014. Throughout my tenure, I have developed meaningful relationships with residents and their families, which have had a profound impact on my personal and professional life. These connections continually reaffirm why I chose nursing as a career and serve as a constant source of inspiration. Outside of work, I enjoy planning my next tropical vacation and spending quality time with my husband, children, and grandchildren.

CLIENT WELLNESS MANAGER
Jennifer Cohmer

I have been with Oaks Retirement Village for 10 years, starting as a full-time nurse. About three years ago, I took on the role of Client Wellness Manager, where I oversee the Memory Care unit. I am deeply passionate about caring for others and find great fulfillment in interacting with our residents.

Working with individuals affected by cognitive impairment is both rewarding and, at times, challenging. I am committed to working closely with families, educating them about the disease, and helping them understand that each person and situation is unique. I am always eager to expand my knowledge of Alzheimer's and Dementia, and I strive to share this knowledge with both staff and families to ensure the best possible care for our residents.

With a background in Gerontology, I am deeply passionate about promoting successful aging and its positive impact on seniors. Over the past five years, I have gained valuable experience in the retirement sector, and with over 10 years in sales, I bring a well-rounded skill set to my work.

I am grateful for the opportunity to support Oaks Retirement Village during Brandys maternity leave. This role has allowed me to forge meaningful connections with residents and their families, while also increasing my engagement with the community. I look forward to the potential opportunities that may arise at the conclusion of my contract in July.

LIFESTYLE MANAGER
Cyndi Hansen

I began my healthcare career in 2009 as a mature student at St. Clair College, where I earned my PSW diploma. Since then, I have gained experience working in both long-term care and within the community. I joined Oaks Retirement Village when it opened in November 2014 and worked as a PSW for four years. When the opportunity arose to temporarily cover a sick leave for the Lifestyle Management position, I was accepted, and the rest, as they say, is history. This role allows me to connect with residents on a deeper level, providing a personalized approach to their daily lives. I take great joy in accommodating each resident and focusing on the activities and interests that bring them happiness. It is truly rewarding to see our residents living their best lives.

When I’m not spending time with our residents, I enjoy being at home with my family and cherishing moments with my new grandchild.

DINING MANAGER
Amanda Parkes

I began my journey at Oaks Retirement over nine years ago as a server, while also honing my cooking skills under the guidance of the Head Chef at the time. When the opportunity to become a cook arose, I embraced the role and excelled for four years, before transitioning into a management position. My extensive experience in both front-of-house and back-of-house operations, combined with three years of working alongside a Red Seal chef, has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of how to efficiently run our kitchen. This knowledge allows me to consistently create healthy, balanced menu options for our residents on a daily basis.

ENVIRONMENTAL
SERVICES MANAGER
Grant Dymock

After graduating from Wallaceburg High School in 1974, I began my career at the Libbey Glass, where I spent over 20 years in the Maintenance Department. During this time, I developed invaluable skills such as teamwork and the importance of doing the job properly. When the factory closed, I transitioned to tool and die work, while continuing to handle equipment repairs until my retirement. However, retirement didn't suit me, so I joined Oaks Retirement Village part-time, where I worked for approximately a year and a half. When the opportunity arose to take on more responsibility and apply my skills and training, I eagerly embraced the challenge. I have now been serving as the Maintenance Manager for approximately two years.
